Media ownership ( FACT Magazine )

if big music magazine company's such as 'Bauer Media' continue to buy out magazines smaller companies and independent companies will find it increasing harder to sell there magazines to consumers, which then will result in the smaller companies to stop producing their magazines, as there will be no market for them . whereas FACT Magazine is a good example of how a smaller company even though faced with the competition have made it in the magazine industry.

Fact Magazine:
















  • FACT was made in 2003 as a british music and youth culture magazine which was sold monthly.

  • in 2005 FACT went digital 

  • in 2009 FACT became exclusively an online magazine, after the website status overtook printed copies.


  • Fact's strategy was centered around the download and streaming of exclusive tracks. 

  • Every week Fact also offered free mixes by DJs.

  • in 2014 FACT owns the status of  one of the internets most popular music publications , and it owns online TV Channel, FACT TV. 

  • In 2007, controversy was caused when Dr Martens placed an advertisement in FACT featuring manipulated photographs of a number of dead rock musicians so that they appeared to be wearing the company's boots in heaven. When families of some of these musicians saw the advert, they reacted angrily, leading Dr Martens to dismiss their advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi.
