- There are fewer copies of magazines being sold resulting in less being made.
- Most magazines are now online or in app form this is affecting the sales of paper copies greatly.
- NME sales have gone down by 16.6%. (but website views are increasing) , NME are still reaching out to the same amount of audience if not more than they where by using the internet to market there magazine as this has become more modern and up to date.
Distribution
- because of less paper copies being sold, distribution is less of a problem as they are no longer restricted and limited to where and how they distribute their magazines because the internet is international and can be seen everywhere and can be less regionalised.
- Magazines still have subscriptions that people have with them, to get the magazine delivered to their houses directly from the store house rather than having to go the shop to buy it. This can help keep the consumer loyal because they can't see other magazines while they are out buying the one they want which can stop them from finding a different magazine to buy instead.
Marketing
- In the print magazines, the advertising inside will normally relate to the articles inside or to the magazines genre. Kerrang! for example will advertise tours, radio stations and new CD's and artists.
- Online the adverts will relate to your searches by using cookies so the adverts will be specialised to interests and hobbies this reflects on what the customer sees advertised on youtube or social networks.
- In free apps pop up adverts are used to advertise for related products or services this way the company will get money from the adverts or from the audience buying their full app to stop the adverts.
- Videos online will often have adverts before the main video starts as people will watch it so that they can watch their video afterwards, this is often seen when you watch videos on youtube or itv player
Exchange
- People will go to the shop to buy their copy of the magazine.
- subscriptions to the magazines is so the money will come out of their bank account.
- Apps can be paid for to stop adverts but are often downloaded for free but the audience will spend their time rather than money.
