race stereotyping in the media
In the media its ofter that we see some sort of racial stereotyping whether it be in the news , TV shows , movies or even music videos. this stereotype ofter does not reflect as being positive towards the opinions of people or a different race/colour/. Stereotypes are one-dimensional views of people based on race, religion, age, profession, and gender. The inaccuracy of ethnic groups can affect how we perceive one another and relate to one another. Children are especially vulnerable to the media's stereotypes because they have a very limited view of the world.
the following are examples that i found in various media forms and texts in which i think show a negative form of race stereotyping towards race/ethnic groups in the media:
Media Form: TV show
Title : American Horror Story Coven
American horror story coven portrays many different stereotypes such as gender and age but i think race is most frequently used in this particular season of American horror story.
based loosely of the true story of Madame Lalarie , Kathy bates portrays this wicked woman.
This show is based in the 1800s in New Orleans and expresses madame LaLarie to be obsessive. many of the slaves become victims of grotesque experimentation and torture , sole for the fascination of madame LaLarie.

Title : Disney's Aladdin
Another film that also show a form of race stereotyping is in the popular Disney cartoon 'Alladin' , in this Arabs are portrayed as being thieves and bad people. this is shown in the scene when you see Aladdin in the market not only is the film portraying race it portrays sexism. If you look closely in the film Princess Jasmine is controlled by men in the entire film , while Aladdin is surrounded by belly dancers and is practically worshipped by them, this not only show sexism and objectification but then furthers the representation of Arabs in the media and how they are portrayed to be dominate over there women. giving them no Independence or rights and objectifying them.
